The headline is a little incendiary . Rubios is honestly a lot more like Baja Fresh in that you can choose from a lot of different items including tacos, burritos, salads, and even wraps. We visited this lunch spot along the Embarcadero this week and were definitely impressed.
They had a great BajaFresh-like salsa bar and we loaded up on salsa verde, medium salsa, and chipotle-style. I ordered the Fiesta salad and G got his as a Fiesta wrap. They mixed up his ingredients like a salad before rolling it up into the whole wheat tortilla, sparing him from the dreaded globs of dressing and lessthanexciting bites.
Everything was tasty and crispy, especially the grilled Mahi Mahi on my salad. One of the things I’ve noticed about San Fran mexican spots is they always have a fish taco/salad option and it’s usually the specialty. Healthy tip – Leave the salad dressing on the side and just pour salsa as your dressing.
Bottom Line: Very fresh, light lunch option for the many professionals working in the surrounding office buildings.
